The SAT and ACT are perhaps the most important tests we will ever take. They play a pivotal role in deciding which college we will attend, if at all, and whether we will be able to pay for it. Most importantly, they test us to see if we have the math, reading, and writing skills to do well in high school, college, and beyond. That being said, we each decided that we would want to do as well on them as humanly possible.
Though there are tons of SAT/ACT Prep Programs to choose from, we wanted to try something different (not to mention, we'd probably have to sell a kidney to afford them). Many of us are members of athletic teams and orchestras or bands, through which we regularly get together with our teammates to practice and push each other to do our best - so that the entire team does better. It occurred to us that we could do the same thing for our college admissions and test prep; to put it another way, we could help each other reach Peak SATisfACTion.
The physical manifestation of our program is called the Brevard Success Program and is based in the Space Coast of Florida. As a team we have been taking and reviewing practice tests, teaching each other math, sharing vocabulary index cards, learning grammar, and developing useful skills such as website development (which you see here) and habit formation. Through this website, we hope to continue collaborating and passing on these skills with fellow students at our schools, Brevard, and beyond.
The inspiration for our program comes from our mentor and recent Harvard graduate, Shiv Gaglani. He has been meeting with us weekly to pass on the same strategies he used to score a perfect 1600 on the SAT and perfect 36 on the ACT and, again more importantly, develop the academic and personal skills that helped him graduatewith highest honors from Harvard and get into Johns Hopkins Medical School and Harvard Business School, where he is currently pursuing an MD/MBA.
